Main purpose of position
Assist the Lead Bread Wheat Breeder in germplasm development, trial management, data analysis and reporting.
The position reports to the Principal Scientist – Spring Bread Wheat Breeder.

All CGIAR Centers are currently engaged into a reform process (“One CGIAR’”) that will help ICARDA and CGIAR achieve better impact through more strategically integrated research, unified governance, an integrated structure and new research modalities across participating Research Centers. This transformation is supported by CGIAR donors who have committed to increased funding as a result of these reforms.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake field operation of all spring bread wheat trials at the ICARDA Merchouch station and other stations in Morocco.
- Undertake field layout, land preparation, seed preparation, planting, weed management and harvesting.
- Preparation of field plans, and field books.
- Collection of agronomic data.
- Computerization and management of agronomic and molecular data timely and precisely.
- Assist in grain quality analysis.
- Supervising daily workers and technicians.
- Performing any other job assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Education, qualifications, and experience
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in crop breeding, agronomy, or pathology.
- At least 3 years of experience in agricultural research.
- Experience in data management and computer skills.
- A good command of spoken and written English & Arabic.
- Valid driving license.

Terms of appointment, salary, and benefits
This is a nationally recruited position available for Moroccan nationals for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months’ maternity leave, 15 days’ paternity leave.
The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 1 year, of which the first 6 months will be a probationary period. Subsequent employment is determined based on the performance, the availability of funds and continued need for the position.
