The AgroBioSciences (AgBS) program at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking applications for a full-time assistant professor in the field of soil microbial ecology. The incumbent will be expected to explore, and exploit the interface of microbial ecology, plant and soil-associated microbiome, and microbial mediated processes (including nutrient cycling) in the context of basic and applied questions in agroecosystems. We are also interested in candidates with a track record in microbial molecular eco-physiology (under different climate change scenarios) and modelling of soil microbes.
Key duties
The Successful Candidate Is Expected To
- Contribute to ongoing projects and have the opportunity to develop your own research portfolio at the AgroBioSciences Program in the School of Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
- Secure basic and applied projects in the abovementioned area both at UM6P and through international calls for projects.

- Demonstrated previous experience (postdoctoral) in molecular and genomic approaches to soil, rhizosphere, and plant microorganism analysis to tackle research questions related to crop production, nutrient cycling, and plant health, stress tolerance, etc. Experience in modelling applied to soil microbes and microbial activities in the soil (nutrients dynamic) will also be an important criterion to consider.
- Demonstrated experience of multidisciplinary research in the above research area.
- Teaching experience with the capacity to develop new courses and connect research to teaching (learning by doing).
- Experience in supervising undergraduate/graduate students.
- Publication portfolio in leading international and well-ranked journals.
