Field Production Specialist
The Field Production Specialist (‘FPS’) is responsible for the realization of the seed production process regarding commercial and/or basic seeds in a designated area and/or crop. Is responsible for the realization of the Quantity, Quality, Timing and (purchase) Price (‘QQTP’) targets within a designated area and/or crop. Reports to the Field Production Manager Vegetables Morocco.
Accountabilities
- Gives technical support/advice for seed multiplication orders on usage of parent seeds, treatments against infestations, irrigation practices etc.
- Understand the seed production cropping dynamics and ensure seed multiplication capabilities are in place to meet those needs, with a clear focus on quality and customer responsiveness.
- Determine production planning parameters such as production safety and base yield levels at grower level, to ensure production risks are balanced against the achievement of the supply plan.
- Determine basic seeds requirements (e.g. quantity, timing) per multiplication process order and organize basic seed deliveries in cooperation with MOM, FPS and reginal field production specialist.
- As the technical expert, provide crop/variety specific knowledge as required (e.g. advice on field capabilities needed).
- Own, define, and communicate performance against agreed KPI’s.
- Develop and maintain the Variety Repro process – supporting advancement of new varieties and challenging Portfolio Management on assortment decisions (productability input to H/VPC meeting).
- Check harvest and processing operations incl. cleaning, treatments and packaging.
- Contributes to the process of continuous improvement of the seed production process.
- Perform the vendor/growers contracting process through agreeing purchase prices and other contracting terms within the framework set by Procurement and Field Production Management.
- Identify new and develop new/existing growers/vendors and ensure all are tracked against the appropriate performance measures to drive continuous improvement.
- Organize Vendor Progress Reporting concept to provide crop status updates from planting until processing (send yield and due date updates to MOM and Supply Planners).
- Supports in the vendor/grower’s payment process (propose payment settlements to Field Production Manager and helps MOM in payment execution).
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or equivalent level with 2 to 3 years professional experience.
- Functional knowledge of seed production, Veg agronomics production knowledge.
- Project management skills.
- Computer literate.
- Result oriented and able to handle growers & vendors effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Flexible team worker.
- Fluency in English
