The challenge:

2 farming entities in Morocco located in Agadir and Kenitra, 100 out growers, 2000 ha of vegetables.

Within the Moroccan farming entity one of the Leader in the fields of vegetables, and renowned by its great diversity of vegetables production in different countries, we are looking for a Vegetable Production Director.

Mission: 

Member of the board of Directors and attached to the General Manager of the Moroccan entity, your mission is to advise, technically support and manage the vegetable production (own and from out growers), in order to get a product in line with the market needs and standards (quality, quantity and delivery time).

For this, your missions consist of:

Crop Management 

  • Planification of the Production: making sure that the drilling plans are aligned with the market needs, carry out an efficient production management from sawing until harvesting
  • Manage the farms Agric operations, the farms managers / collaborators and carry out visits to out growers to ensure the establishment of cultivation routes and a proper crop management
  • Plan and manage input supplies and follow up inventory levels (inputs, spare parts)
  • Manage the equipment and workshops
  • Establish and monitor relevant KPIs and scorecards

Budgeting

  • Build the farms budget
  • Follow the budget and financial results as per farm and crop
  • Contribute to the identification of dysfunctions
  • Ensure the minimization of expenses and the resources optimization
  • Study and propose investments in order to improve the crop and human productivities, product quality

Ensure the proper functioning of the Department within the Organization 

  • Manage the relationship with the mother Company (Holland), the other Departments (HR, Finance, Quality, Pack Station, etc.) and the other farming entities concerning production planning (volume and quality)
  • Ensure a watch on innovation, technique and regulations
  • Organize end of season meetings and build progress plans
  • Ensure compliance with certification standards at farm level
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and suggest any investment likely to increase staff safety, energy savings and compliance with environmental standard

Human Resources

  • Supervise and coach the team of farm managers and crop coordinators (technical side; organization)
  • Guarantee clear communication at team level
  • Detect training needs and communicate them to the HR Director for the implementation of training programs .- Anticipate the recruitment needs with HR Director

Reporting & communication

  • Provide reporting to the General Manager on performance in terms of production and human resources on a weekly basis
  • Ensure permanent communication with the main stake holders (Quality department, Pack Station, Finance / Business Control, HR, mother Company, etc)
  • Ensure the establishment of an internal communication system for upward, downward and mutual information

Requisitos:

  • > 5 years in a similar position. .- Knowledge in agronomy and experience in vegetable crops is essential (cultivation techniques from soil preparation to harvest, inputs, equipment and irrigation)
  • Management and planification skills
  • Capacity for analysis and synthesis
  • Knowledge of standards and certifications related to the sector (GGAP, Good pesticide practices, etc.)
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Fluency in French or Arabic and English
  • Working experience in Africa / Morocco is a plus
